LO-PHA OREGON YOUTH GROUP
The youth division of the Lo-Pha Society, Inc. of Oregon
MISSION: To deliver excellent youth work in our community. We enable youth to explore the interaction between themselves, their peers and society. We believe that character building results from teamwork and good sportsmanship, while instilling in them positive values such as integrity, respect, and volunteerism.
Lo-Pha Oregon Youth Group gives members the opportunity to help them uncover their cultural identity, true passions, and unique talents while expanding community engagement within Oregon.
INTRODUCING OUR MEMBERS
PRESIDENT
KATIE CHI LOR
"Investments are what drives the economy - as an individual, my personal investment is in my education. My decision to pursue a higher education was significantly influenced by growing up as a child of Hmong refugees in an academically and socioeconomically disadvantaged community. My dream job is to work for an organization that allows me to travel and tackle health disparities in disproportionately-affected and marginalized communities. My goal is to ensure equitable healthcare by improving the infrastructures while simultaneously addressing health equity issues in my future endeavors.”
Katie is an alumna of University of Oregon, the graduating class of 2018, where she majored in Planning, Public Policy and Management, and minored in Ethnic Studies. She is passionate about engaging the Hmong youth and building cultural awareness within her community. Alongside being our President, Katie is currently working at Oregon Health & Science University, and studying for the GRE to get into graduate school.
